Hello,
I am new to this forum and read a few post and there was some really good advise on care and problems with boats so here is mine.
My wife and I have the chance to get a 1980 Sea Ray 226 with a Chev 350 260 horse engine that has not been used since 2000, when the person who has this boat was able to use it. The engine has 1865 hours one it, there was no visual problems as far as looking at the interior of the boat in the engine compartment, there was a little oil in the bottom of the hull that I was told was from the last time the oil had been changed, but that has been a while as well.
This beautiful boat is well maintained, the familiy that has it does not want it and we are trying to up grade to something a little bigger and better and one that we can safely have our two year old on and not have to worry so much about her falling over board. If you could please let us know of any issues we might have if we are allowed to get this boat and what we should be looking for if we are allowed to take her out for a test cruise, she weights 3800 pounds, I do know we will have to remove all the old gas in the tank (just not sure how to do that other than to siphon it out) change the oil, check all the lines for fuel, heater exaust ect.
Lastly, if possible about what would this be worth, as I described, not been used for 9 plus years, has large trailor and power vaccum brakes on the tralior???
Thank you for your time, we hope we can get this it is beautiful and would fit our needs really well, we would use it mostly for fishing
